Westconnex Community Relations Team Emails

Below is the text of emails that I received from the Westconnex Community Relations Team regarding the planned habitat extension for the GGBF in Arncliffe. I have taken out headers and footers.

We have recently completed geotechnical and contamination investigations which will assist in habitat design and constructability of the frog ponds.

The planning approval for the project includes a timeline for construction of the ponds (to be built within one year of commencement of construction).

The ponds are due to be completed in the third quarter of 2017.

Construction of the New M5 started in November 2016 (please find attached a notification to that affect).

Activities undertaken prior to this were part of site establishment in preparation for the start of construction (see site establishment notification attached).

Construction of the ponds are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of this year.

April 3, 2017

We are just waiting on final approvals for the work to commence and are anticipating starting work on the ponds in about three to four weeks.

I'm sorry I can't be more precise but there are quite a few variables before we can commit to a definite date.

Our teams have been doing preparatory work at the site and we are expecting that you will see civils work taking place end May.

June 2, 2017

Thank you for your interest in the frog ponds. We have received final approvals and are planning to start clearing works in 2 - 3 weeks. This is to clear the site and erect fencing. Following on from that excavation work will take commence.

June 26, 2017

Work is starting today to clear the area. Excavation work will start after that (not sure how long this will take as this will depend on amount of clearing, what we may find and the weather).

We are still on track for November.

Not sure when you was last at the ponds but they were completed in May. They will not be open to the public though, the fencing will be there on a permanent basis. Currently the release of tadpoles is in discussion - regarding the best time for this process. Approximately end of spring could be the timeframe.

We are still on track for November.
