The extended deadline for submissions has now passed and the material below is now slightly out of date. Bayside Council may possibly still accept submissions but check with them first.

Making a Submission

If you oppose handing over Cooks Cove South for a Golf Course, then I strongly recommend doing something about it. And the most urgent thing to do right now is to make a submission. Submissions are due by February 10 (extended from January 27).

If you find the prospect of making a submission rather daunting, don't worry. Just think of it as writing a letter, that's really all it is. There is no prescribed format. Some people fit their submission onto a single page and others produce submissions that go on for pages and pages. You can try to cover all issues or you can just focus on one or two issues that concern you particularly.

You have many options for submitting it. My recommendation is to produce a PDF file (when selecting "Print" in Microsoft Word, you can generate a PDF file rather than actually print) and email it to council@bayside.nsw.gov.au. That's the easiest for Bayside Council and you know exactly what your submission looks like. If you prefer you can just send the Word document. Or you can put your submission into the body of the email. You can also print your submission and send it to Bayside Council, PO Box 21, Rockdale NSW 2216. You can even drop it off personally (Through Rockdale Library entrance, turn right). And if you want to make a hand-written submission, that's also fine.

One minor matter: The area is properly called Cooks Cove, Southern Precinct. However the developer uses the term "Cook Cove" rather than "Cooks Cove". You can use either term in your submission.

I am making available here both the submission which I submitted myself and a shorter bullet-point style submission. Ideally, you would write a submission in your own words. But I don't mind if you paste some of my text in and change a few words if you can. Even if you take my bullet-point submission and just change personal details, that's still better than doing nothing.

You don't have to live in the Bayside Council area to make a submission. The development application is going to be decided by a regional planning panel anyway and not just Bayside Council.
